Hello Bend! Living in a town that places a huge emphasis on outdoor activities year round, I continue to be impressed with the vast number of indoor activities available. It is nice to have options to keep the kids busy as the temperatures begin to drop. One of our most popular hangouts is Cascade Indoor Sports Complex. With a wide variety of activities to keep you busy, kids and adults alike frequent this place to stay active and have fun all year long!
With an impressive list of offerings, Cascade Indoor Sports partners with the Bend Park & Rec to enroll participants in their programs. You can sign up directly through CIS’s website or through the BP&R site. Adults can choose from several different soccer leagues, roller hockey, volleyball or dodgeball. For the little ones, there are so many fun options to choose from! Arena flag football, soccer, girls lacrosse, and roller hockey are available throughout the fall, winter & spring. Sports camps are also offered in the summer and during most school breaks.
My son is currently enrolled in the fall soccer league. This program is a little different from other soccer leagues as there is no practice time during the week. They play two 30-minute games every Saturday with some drills at the beginning to practice a few skills. It’s great because we all know game time is the most fun for the kids! Cascade Indoor Sports also offers a Soccer Skills class on Wednesdays if you would like your child to get in some additional skill training. By the time I realized this, the class was full so we are waiting for the next session to begin in January. Be sure to register early!
CIS offers more than just organized sports. There are dance classes available for ages 2 through Kindergarten, and Yoga classes for parents and their children beginning at just 18 months!
My daughter is obsessed with The Big Play Thing, which is Central Oregon’s largest indoor play structure. The bonus for us is that she can play during our son’s soccer games! Winter isn’t even yet in full swing and I can already see myself spending many hours here while my kids play and release all that pent up energy usually reserved for the park.
Roller skating is a new activity for my kids and it is also available at Cascade Indoor Sports year round during their Open Skate hours. Looking for something fun to do with your kids over Thanksgiving break? Skating is open Mon, Tue & Wed from 12:00-3pm. Rentals are available for both inline and traditional roller skates or you can bring your own and save on the rental fee. Both my kids love playing all the classic roller skating games…limbo, musical numbers, races and more!
Naturally, a variety of birthday parties are also a available at Cascade Indoor Sports. Choose from an open field sports party, skating party or Big Play Thing party. I have a feeling we will be celebrating at least one birthday here next year, if not both!
Whatever your interests, Cascade Indoor Sports Complex has something for you! Be sure to take full advantage of everything they have to offer when looking for something fun to do indoors this winter. If you are interested in organized sports, clinics, or camps, be sure to sign up early as these fill up fast! If roller skating or The Big Play Thing is of more interest to you, be sure to check their website as open skate time and play times vary and are subject to change.
