Barrio~New Location, Same Delicious Food!

 

Hello Bend!  Looking for a unique dining experience in downtown Bend? Look no further than Barrio! With an impressive selection of Latin inspired eats & the best margaritas in Bend, you will not be disappointed with this delicious gem! The restaurant has a vibrant eclectic décor, with a great vibe and a staff that is super friendly and helpful.

                 

We went with the staff recommendations and ordered the Jibarito Pork Carnitas and the Grilled Green Beans. Wow! Delicious…every last bite (yes, we literally ate every last bite)! Let me just say the Jibarito is something that I would not typically order, but now I know why it is a “must have” dish. This combination of ingredients was scrumptious! I’m glad I stepped outside the box and went with the recommendation!

                  

Barrio also offers quite an impressive drink menu. There are several drink combinations unique to Barrio. With a diverse offering, you are sure to find the perfect drink for your taste buds!

Barrio is also home to Bend’s hottest bartender, as voted by locals in the Source Weekly’s annual contest!

This popular restaurant also has a cool story to tell. Beginning on the streets of Bend as a food cart. Owner and executive chef Stephen Draheim partnered with a fellow food cart owner, Joel Cordes of El Sancho, to bring Barrio to life. Joel moved on after 10 months, but Stephen plugged away, and with the help of his amazing staff, made Barrio what it is today!

The big challenge Barrio faces is the limited size of their restaurant space. It is such a hot spot and can only seat approximately 45 people, which is small in the restaurant world, so that can lead to long wait times. Well, all that is about to change! Barrio is moving to a much larger location at 915 NW Wall Street. The new location almost doubles in size and provides seating for over 100 people. It will also have a great new addition…an outside deck off Brooks Street, which is set to open by Spring Break! They are working fast & furious to bring the new Barrio to Bend. The flooring is in and interior paint is complete. Here is your sneak peak at the new location…

                       

Opening is targeted for the first week of March, with a Grand Opening Party Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5. Check back here for more details on the party as they become available!

Barrio recently added another addition to the family…a tricked out food truck! With the purchase of a retired Fed/Ex truck, and the help of the local car customization shop, G&S Custom Fabrications, the new Barrio food truck was born! With a mission of bringing the taste of Barrio back to the streets of Bend, the food truck is available for catering events, and I am sure it will be a constant fixture at Bend’s many concerts, festivals & special events!
