Deschutes Brewery Jubelale to be featured at First Friday Artwalk!
December 1 marks the final First Friday Artwalk of 2017. With downtown Bend bustling and decked out for the holidays, there is plenty of Holiday cheer in the air! What a perfect way to spend a Friday night, supporting our local businesses while knocking out a little holiday shopping and soaking in the local art scene.
Dozens of downtown businesses participate by offering snacks and drinks to entice you to come into their store and enjoy the artwork on display. This Friday, there is one stop in particular you MUST add to your list to experience a dose of Bend beer culture and some of the “coolest” art in town.
Each year a local artist is selected to create the label for Deschutes Brewery Jubelale, a festive winter ale. I am so incredibly proud of my friend MaryLea Harris for being commissioned to do the honor this year for Jubelale’s 30th anniversary! Jubelale was the first bottled beer by Deschutes Brewery, and “to celebrate the 30th bottling, for the first time ever, this year’s packaging will feature not one, but a series of custom snowflake themed illustrations”.
“I was so honored to be invited to create the label for the 30th anniversary of this beloved beer, and to join the ranks of artists I esteem and admire,” said Harris. “I like to work in series, and landed on creating four snowflake paintings for this project because no two snowflakes are alike just like no two beers are ever exactly alike. It’s exciting to be the first artist to create more than one piece of art for the label and have a mixed and matched set of bottles in each six-pack this year.”
A special First Friday event will be held at my office in downtown Bend ~ Cascade Sotheby’s International Realty. We are thrilled to host MaryLea Harris and feature some of her original Snowflake Series artwork. We will be serving samples of this year’s Jubelale and tasty treats from Bleu Bite Catering. This is your opportunity to be a part of the beer culture we hold so dear here in Bend, so be sure to come on down to meet the woman behind the Jubelale Snowflakes!
