Hello Bend! The Bend Summer Concert Series is something we look forward to every year as summer approaches. One of our all-time favorite “family fun nights” is taking the kiddos to see Michael Franti live in concert at the Les Schwab Amphitheater here in Bend. This kid friendly concert is a great way to expose the little ones to the live music scene in a fun, wholesome way.
Michael Franti puts on a show that encourages the audience get moving and sing along, yet PG enough that parents don’t have to worry about unexpected, more mature language. He also gets up close and personal with the audience by actually going into the crowd and performing. When you arrive, be sure to park your chair next to one of the large square platforms scattered on the lawn in front of the stage for prime viewing.
Better yet, get your kids up on stage to sing and dance with Michael Franti and give your kids some rad childhood memories. We’ve been twice before and he usually calls the kids up on stage early on in the show from stage right. So, try to make your way up to the front left corner of the stage, and have your camera ready!
Michael Franti & Spearhead + Ziggy Marley is Thursday, June 27 at 6:30pm (doors open at 5). Tickets are still available, so be sure to grab yours to this incredibly popular concert tradition. We’re not quite sure if Michael Franti is opening for Ziggy Marley, or vice versa, so we plan to arrive early to claim our spot near the front. Last year, we missed the opportunity for our kids to get on stage, and let me just say, we won’t be doing that again if we can help it!
Before heading down to the Les Schwab Amphitheater, it’s a good idea to check out their website for what your are allowed to bring into the venue and what you must leave at home. Blankets and beach towels are no longer allowed. So, grab your low-profile chairs and we’ll see you at Michael Franti on Thursday!
