Nerf Battle & Skating Party!

Hello Bend!  We celebrated my son’s 8th birthday over the weekend with a birthday party at Cascade Indoor Sports Complex. It was an epic Nerf battle and roller-skating combo party! Nerf battle? Yes, that’s right…I’ve heard of laser tag or paint ball, but the Nerf battle was a first for us! My son was super excited about it!

There are several birthday party options to choose from at Cascade Indoor Sports. You can choose from a roller skating party, a sports party, a Nerf battle, or a party at The Big Play Place. Private and public party options are available for most themes. Be sure to check out their website for all available options. If you select the private skating session, you have the option to add on sports games or the Nerf battle.

We booked the private skate session and opted for the Nerf battle and skating combo. My husband was stoked about the idea of an organized Nerf battle, but I was a little skeptical and worried about the safety aspect at first. Wow, was I wrong…what a blast! I clearly had nothing to worry about. The staff did an excellent job making sure the kids were being careful when firing at their “targets”. They set up the entire skating rink with obstacles, and the staff organized the kids into teams and led them in the multiple battles.

Since my son is obsessed with Star Wars these days, we decided to make the area a “Jedi Training” facility during the Nerf battle. I added a few extra signs for a little extra decoration…

I also decided to go with snacks instead of pizza since the party time was mid-day. Plus, who wants to eat a full meal when they can play!?!   This also gave me the opportunity to have a little fun and add some cute Star Wars themed snack labels to the table.

When the Nerf battles were over, we had cake while the staff cleared the rink for our skating session. It is helpful to prompt parents to get skates for their kids ahead of time, while Nerf is still in play. As soon as the kids are done eating cake, you can put on their skates and maximize the skating fun! Heck, my daughter had her skates on before the cake!

So here’s the scoop on the Nerf battle as it is not advertised on the CISC website. All guests should bring their own Nerf guns and darts. To help make sure there wasn’t a break in the action, we brought extra darts. Amazon is the best deal, 100 darts for $12! Be sure to remind your guests to put their names on their Nerf guns to avoid any confusion at the end of the party. Also, you do not need to mark your darts. Come with your gun loaded and collect enough darts to load your gun at the end of the party. It’s pretty simple as the Nerf darts are universal, but give your guests a heads up beforehand. I had a lot of questions about the darts before our party.

The skating portion of the party was loads of fun! Even the parents got in on the skating action, and not just to assist the little ones! You can also walk around the rink to assist your child until they get the hang of it.

This was an amazing birthday party for my son! My daughter has already told us she wants to have her party there and is trying to figure out which theme she wants for her birthday in April. So many wonderful memories created at Cascade Indoor Sports Complex!
