Hello Bend! When I first started this blog, I wanted it to be a platform where I could compile all the resources I wished I would have had when I moved to Bend! Because of this, the “Local Favorites” list was created and has blossomed into weekly features! Today’s feature is one of our local gyms: Northwest BOD! Fitness is an important part of my life—it helps me stay balanced and centered as a mom, wife, and realtor. Northwest BOD focuses primarily on women-only classes, and for many, the gym has become an incredible place to find support and a sense of community!
Because of COVID, many businesses we know and love have had to pivot majorly and adapt their operations to keep themselves and their clients safe. For gyms, the restrictions have hit business and revenue especially hard. One of the ways Northwest BOD has evolved and risen to the occasion of supporting their members during this time is to offer a vast selection of recorded and virtual workouts. At first glance into the gym located in the Old Mill District, you might not see all the history, love, literal sweat, blood & tears poured into designing a place that changes lives for the better. Blaire, a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, holds advanced certifications as a NASM, FSM-II, and TRX Personal Trainer and started Northwest BOD by training clients in her garage and the local parks in Bend. In November of 2019, she made the leap into her own space in the light and airy space of the Scalehouse building. The equipment is modern and sparkling clean, and her creative programming is accompanied by endless natural light and upbeat music.
Over the course of building the gym into a community, Blaire has added other coaches to the team. Not only is there a wide range of experience and expertise in the coaching staff of Northwest BOD, but they’ve added a “Fitness Beyond the Dumbbells” approach and brought on local Registered Dietician Sara Kuhn to serve as an in-house consultant for all clients needing help with diet and nutrition.
