Powder Palooza Pre-SeasonDeals on Winter Gear!

Hello Bend! One of our favorite pre-winter events, Powder Palooza, is coming up this Saturday.  We stumbled upon this event at the Powder House our first year living in Bend.  We always have so much fun that it has become an annual event for our family. Powder Palooza takes place in the parking lot of the Powder House, which was voted BEST Ski & Snowboard shop in The Source Weekly’s Annual Reader’s Poll.   It’s basically a big party to “Pray for Snow” for the upcoming ski season. Powder House offers deals on winter apparel, ski boots, demo skis and more. Check out my ORIGINAL BLOG POST on our first Powder Palooza, one of my first posts ever!

The event starts at 12pm on Saturday, November 2.  Baldy’s BBQ will be serving complimentary small plates of their pulled pork, Cascade Lakes Brewing Company will be slinging beer and Oregon Spirit Distillers  will be crafting Hot Toddies!  Anytime you factor in FREE FOOD and FREE DRINKS, the people are sure to come, so just be patient (and polite) as the lines can get long, but seem to move quickly.

We’ve had great luck at this event in the past.  So far, we’ve scored my Atomic skis, my absolute FAVORITE pair of Obermeyer ski pants and my son’s ski boots, to name a few of the bigger items.  They also have an excellent selection of ski goggles, beanies, ski socks, base layers and more! I can’t wait to see what they have in store (pun intended) for us this year!

For those of you that are new to the area, you may not be quite ready to commit to purchasing all your winter gear your first season in Central Oregon.  The expense to gear up your entire family can be overwhelming and can quickly add up, especially if you have to buy all the basics as well. Maybe you’re not quite sure if your kids will take to skiing or snowboarding, and you want to figure that out before investing in their equipment.  The staff at Powder House is incredibly knowledgeable, and can answer any questions, advise you, and properly “fit” you for boots. Our first winter, we took advantage of their season rentals for the kids, which is quite an amazing deal, and a great way to help you figure things out that first winter.

Every year, Powder Palooza has a food drive to support Neighborhood Impact.  Bring in non-perishable food items and receive a raffle ticket for each item donated. Tickets can also be purchased with proceeds benefiting the Bethlehem Inn.  Win great prizes that include a Season Pass to Mt Bachelor & Hoodoo Ski & Recreation, a Vintage Cabin Stay at Elk Lake Resort and Marina and tons of great ski and snowboard gear!  I have my eye on that Elk Lake Resort prize every year as it includes a ride to your cabin in the Snowcat, as Elk Lake isn’t accessible any other way in the winter. Sounds like a cool Central Oregon winter dream to me!

Here is the INSIDER TIP for this event.  Obviously the more raffle tickets you have, the higher your odds are of winning, right?  So, add some food donations to your Costco list because if you buy in bulk, you just might get lucky!  Be sure to save your receipt so you get credit for your donation from Uncle Sam as well.

Hope to see you at Powder Palooza this Saturday.  I’ll have some “Hello Bend Oregon” stickers and punching balloons with me to hand out.  If you see me, come up and say HELLO…I would love to connect!
